Simone Biles doesn’t believe in gravity. The American gymnastics megastar sent social media into a tailspin on Sunday at the US Gymnastics Championships in Missouri — on Monday, she broke the internet.
Biles, 22, has long proven to be the GOAT when it comes to gymnastics and she further locked away that position with another never-before-seen move.
After becoming the first gymnast to ever attempt and successfully land a double-twisting, double-somersault dismount from the balance beam, she took things to new heights during her floor routine.
Biles started off her routine by becoming the first woman to ever land a triple-double (two flips and three twists) in competition.
Not only did she absolutely nail the landing, she made the extremely difficult move look effortless.
The move looks even more impressive and insane when you watch it in ultra slow-mo. The diminutive superstar launches herself way up and just seems to hang in the air as she keeps twisting and flipping before landing back on the ground.
She had attempted the manoeuvre during her floor routine on Sunday, but wasn’t able to stick the landing. She made no such mistake when it mattered most.
“I still get really frustrated because I know how good I am and how well I can do,” Biles said. “So I just want to do the best routine for the audience and for myself out here.”
The out-of-this-world displays from the superstar saw her clinch an astonishing sixth national title, becoming the first person to do so in nearly 70 years.
