Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from Kanye West back in February - but in a candid new interview, she reveals what her ex taught her.
Kim Kardashian is giving credit where credit is due.
The Skims founder, 40, opened up about her relationship with ex Kanye West and how much he changed her in a good way.
Kardashian appeared on Wednesday’s episode of the We Are Supported By … podcast with co-hosts Kristen Bell and Monica Padman and talked about the best advice she learned from the rapper, 44.
“I got to a point — and maybe [it was] being in a relationship with Kanye for a decade, someone that absolutely didn’t care about likability factor or what any of perception of him was as long as he was true to himself — that taught me so much in the best way of just being me and living in the moment,” the social media star explained.
Kardashian admitted she “used to be such a people pleaser” but over time has since learned the importance of “just being myself first.”
“You don’t have to please everyone,” Kardashian told the hosts. “As long as I’m myself and as long as I’m doing it the way that I want to, like, you have one life and you’re living it for you.”
“That taught me to just be more confident in myself and truly not care as much of what other people thought,” she added.
Kardashian and West married in May 2014, and share four kids: North, 8, Saint, 5½, Chicago, 3½, and Psalm, 2.
The reality TV star filed for divorce in February 2021. According to court documents, Kardashian cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their divorce.
Kardashian also reportedly requested that the ability to award spousal support by either herself or West be terminated, according to Entertainment Tonight and Us Weekly, which obtained the court papers at the time.
The famous pair also has a prenuptial agreement in place.
The prenup, which will help them to avoid a hairy dispute over their massive fortune, reportedly states that the assets and obligations of the Power rapper and Kardashian are their own respective properties.
Reports of reasoning for the divorce have varied, with sources previously claiming that their politics, lifestyle, Calabasas home and even the rapper’s surprisingly brief attendance at his wife’s lavish birthday party last year have all been points of contention.
The two began dating in 2012 and confirmed their relationship by appearing at public events together.
The marriage was West’s first and Kardashian’s third. She was first married to music producer Damon Thomas from 2000-2004, then to basketball pro Chris Humphries from 2011-2013, though she filed for divorce just 72 days after their wedding.
