The rumour mill is in overdrive after someone stumped up R Kelly’s whopping child support payment, with the embattled singer revealing what he plans to do while dogged by sex abuse allegations.

Accused singer R Kelly has vowed to “straighten out” his money woes and sex abuse charges.

Following his release from jail - after someone paid the £123,000 ($A227,000) that he owed in back child support - Kelly told waiting reporters: “I promise you, we’re going to straighten all this stuff out.”

The R&B singer was today freed from a Chicago jail three days after a judge ordered him to be locked up until he paid the total amount of back child support that he owed.

Cook County sheriff’s spokeswoman Sophia Ansari told the Associated Press (AP) that someone made the payment on Saturday morning, but she didn’t know who.

The New York Post reports that, as with other high-profile inmates, Kelly was held in a solo cell under around-the-clock observation.

Although he declared to reporters that he was going to “straighten all this stuff out”, the singer said he couldn’t say anything more.

The trip to jail was Kelly’s second in a matter of weeks.

He was taken to the same jail last month, after being charged with 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse pertaining to four women, including three who were minors when the alleged abuse occurred.

The singer has denied wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Kelly, whose lawyer said at the time that the singer’s finances were in disarray, then spent a weekend in jail before a 47-year-old suburban Chicago business owner posted his £77,000 ($A142,250) bail.

His lawyer and publicist told a similar story this week before and after the hearing in which the judge ordered Kelly into custody, with the publicist telling reporters that Kelly was prepared to pay £38,000 ($A70,000)-£46,000($A85,000) on Wednesday, but was not able to pay the entire amount.

Aside from pleading not guilty to the charges, he has also very publicly proclaimed his innocence.

He recently became highly emotional during an interview with Gayle King on CBS This Morning, yelling “I’m fighting for my f***ing life”.

He appeared to be restrained as he angrily loomed over the interviewer.

While furiously hitting back at sex abuse claims, Kelly was shown beating his chest, flailing his arms, screaming, weeping and tearing at his clothes.

He also talked about his finances, claiming that people had stolen money from his bank accounts, although he offered no details.
