Britney Spears stole the show at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday with a high-energy medley that included some of her greatest hits, f-rom “Toxic” to “Womanizer.” But that wasn’t the only reason people were buzzing about the pop star: The 34-year-old’s appearance also sparked plastic surgery rumors.
In a People.com article about the sexy outfits Spears sported at the Billboard awards show, multiple people commented on how different she looks lately. Pamela wrote: “Has she had some plastic surgery done to her face, she looks nothing like she used to,” while Dahlia wrote, “How sad — she is naturally pretty but has gone too far with the nose jobs. Doesn’t even resemble her original self anymore!”
Yahoo Lifestyle Australia called the singer “unrecognizable,” and asked, “What has she done to her face?” Turns out, Spears herself has admitted to having some work done. In a 2013, the star shared with InStyle that she had lip injectionsdone by a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, according to The Huffington Post.
It’s also possible that makeup, which can have a powerfully transformative effect, is making Spears’s face look different. Spears’s long-time makeup artist, Melanie Inglessias, who has worked with the star for five years, wanted to cre-ated aglowing, sexy look for the star, according to Billboard.com. Along with smoky eyes, Spears sported a very pale pink lip (YSL Rouge Pur Couture Satin Radiance Lipstick #10), which emphasized her pucker.
Spears certainly isn’t the first — or the last — celebrity to be plagued by plastic surgery rumors. One of the more notable ones was Renee Zellweger, who caused a social media explosion when the 46-year-old actress was truly unrecognizable at the 2014 Elle Women In Hollywood event. Zellweger brushed off the plastic surgery rumors, calling it “silly” and telling People magazine, “I’m glad folks think I look different! I’m living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I’m thrilled that perhaps it shows.”
