ARNOLD Schwarzenegger will return to film Terminator 6 after the next instalment of the sci-fi franchise was given the green light.

The movie is scheduled for release 35 years after The Terminator stormed cinemas in 1984 and will feature a crop of rising stars including Gabriel Luna who plays a new cyborg assassin.

But what happened to the original cast — where are they all now? And who else is returning to the franchise in 2019? The Sun found out.

LINDA HAMILTON, 61

Linda played waitress-turned-action mum Sarah Connor in the first two movies and she flexed some serious muscle in the 1991 sequel Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

Her personal life wasn’t as strong after her first husband left her when she was pregnant with their son in 1989.

She sparked a romance with Terminator director James Cameron in 1991 and they had a daughter, Josephine, before marrying in 1997.

But it ended in a $US50 million divorce settlement just two years later.

Hamilton is back in action movie mode and will play Connor for the first time since T1 and T2 next year.

MICHAEL BIEHN, 62

Biehn played young Sergeant Kyle Reese who was sent back in time by John Connor to save his mother Sarah in the first Terminator.

He was a hit with fans, and Cameron went on to cast him as Corporal Hicks in Aliensand The Abyss.

The actor moved into the video game market and earned wads of cash lending his voice to titles like Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun.

He has five kids from three marriages, and most recently tied the knot with Dark Angel actor Jennifer Blanc six years after separating from Broadchurch producer Gina Marsh.

After directing a few box office flops, he’s now paid to make public appearances at sci-fi conventions.

EDWARD FURLONG, 41

The young John Connor went on to become a teen idol in the early nineties after T2dominated the box office.

His next major role came seven years later in 1998 with American History X. After that, his career took a major nose dive and he was dropped at the last minute from Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines in 2002.

His personal life was just as unpredictable. From the age of 15 he dated his tutor Jacqueline Domac, who was 28 years old when they got together. She later sued him for violence against her in 1999.

In 2015, he confirmed he was having a hard time getting back into acting when he said on Twitter: “Having trouble getting insured on any projects lately. I just want to work and entertain.”

Soon after, he featured in the crowd-funded pilot Star Trek: Renegades as the character “Fixer”.

He’ll be seen in next year’s movie through flashback scenes and actor Jude Collie will be his CGI stand-in.

ROBERT PATRICK, 59

The chilling T-1000 from T2 reprised the role for cameo appearances in Wayne’s World (1992) and Last Action Hero (1993).

He went on to have a solid Hollywood career and starred in a string of hits including The Faculty (1998), Spy Kids (2001), Walk The Line (2005), Charlie’s Angels(2003), and Safe House (2012).

He also headed up the cast of The X-Files in 2000 as Agent Doggett, replacing David Duchovny’s Mulder.

Patrick married wife Barbara Hooper in 1990 and they’re still together to this day.

He’s been praised for his work ethic, personality and consistent performances throughout his career.

He’s currently starring as DHS agent Cabe Gallo in the CBS drama series Scorpion.

JOE MORTON, 70

Morton played the accidental creator of doomsday and AI Skynet, Miles Dyson, in T2. Spoiler alert, he dies at the end of the second movie while destroying his life’s work.

He now plays a father in telly series Scandal opposite Kerry Washington.

NICK STAHL, 38

Stahl was a former child actor when he took over as John Connor from Edward Furlong in T3.

It was his biggest role other than a part in 2005’s Sin City.

The father-of-one’s career was thwarted by his troubled personal life. His wife left him when he disappeared from rehab in 2012.

Last year, he opened up about his addiction to alcohol and numerous stints in rehab.

He said he was moving back home to Texas and was taking a break from acting to concentrate on his family and sobriety.

CHRISTIAN BALE, 44

Bale demanded to play resistance fighter John Connor in 2009’s Terminator Salvation, which also starred Bryce Dallas Howard as John’s wife Kate Connor and Helena Bonham Carter as a SkyNet scientist.

He was already a big name when he joined the franchise having found fame aged 14 in Empire Of The Sun and playing serial killer Patrick Bateman in American Psychoin 1999.

He’s probably most remembered on set for flying into a rage and screaming obscenities at a crew member.

They interrupted his scene, twice, and the incident was caught on camera and leaked to the press.

He was last seen in 2017 movie Hostiles set in 1892 and played legendary army Captain Joseph Blocker.

ARNIE, 71

Little did Arnie know that when he was cast in his most famous role as the terrifying killer cyborg in 1984, he’d still be playing the character 35 years later.

He’s been seen as the Terminator in all movies, though he was never on set and just lent his voice and a CG model of his face to Terminator Salvation in 2009.

By the time the second movie Terminator 2: Judgment Day was released in 1991 he was a huge star and a box office magnet who starred in a string of ’90s hits including True LiesTwinsJunior and Eraser.

After 2000, the Austrian bodybuilder moved into politics and became the governor of California in 2003, holding office for eight years.

He split from his wife Maria Shriver after he admitted to cheating on her and fathering a son, now 20, with their maid.

They are still married though, as he’s reportedly avoided finalising their $US400 million divorce.

Schwarzenegger will be reunited with director James Cameron in Terminator next year.
